Knitting for fun

May 30: I finished the baby sweater from hell yesterday--just need to find some ribbon for it today. I'll take a photo of it later--if I feel like it. To reward myself I knit the Crescent Scarf I bought at knit happens in Alexandria, VA (part of the Lost Geekend--go see Dave about that one). It was knit from a free pattern the shop gave me with the purchase of one ball of Skacel Fiori. I felt like if I didn't do something for myself amidst all this baby and wedding stuff I'd lose my mind. So we caught up on our Colonial House viewing and I knit this.

It does indeed make a crescent.

When it's in the window here you can see bit more of the weirdness of this yarn--Skacel Fiori. It has green threads encasing pink wispy threads and every inch it sprouts a little pink bow. Very cute and very Lilly Pulitzer.

I think it looks rather jaunty!

Ridiculous Busy

May 27: People have got to stop getting married and having babies! I simply cannot keep up with gifts--it's nice to be known as the woman who gives the really cool knitted or stitched gifts, but this is getting crazy! In the next four months four friends are getting married and two very important babies will be born (a third just arrived and is waiting impatiently for her five hour baby sweater from hell--who can knit that damn thing in five hours?! Please let me know if you can--I don't believe you). I don't have the time to stitch four wedding samplers and knit three baby gifts. I have a show to rehearse and two jobs to work! And a kitchen to renovate!

What I have decided to do is finish the gift for Liz's baby (Liz's baby gets the super-gift of the year because it is Liz's baby and Liz's baby is the bestest). One of the wedding couples will get a sampler and I think that's it. No. Wait. The other baby is my brother's. Crap. Okay, Liz's baby gift, one wedding sampler, and a baby sampler (because my brother's wife can knit circles around me--I bet that baby already has a pile of blankies and sweaters and booties like no other). Baby sweater, sampler, sampler...

Dave, quit whining about your damn DNA scarf. I'll get around to it...eventually. People are getting married and having babies here!

Debbie are you out there?

May 24: So my friend, Debbie, said that my site and Dave's are the only things she can see from work. I feel an intense pressure to perform. I will try, Debbie, I will try...
