Never Ending Shrug...September 27: It never ends. I finished it, put it on and as Amy would say--it has gorilla arms. This was some really lazy knitting on my part. I knew my row gauge was off (honestly, does anyone EVER hit row gauge?)and did I bother to do the math to fix it? Hell no! It's a relaxed kind of garment, no stress, easy knitting. It's not a structured garment so really, who cares? Oh right. I have to rip those sleeves back from the wrists and fix it--just too long. Not even cool long.
Fuck.
Busy, busy, busySeptember 16: What on earth have I been up to since last we spoke? Summer parties on the weekends, anniversary fun, wedding madness (Dave's brother and then two weeks later, my sister) and crazy work days. I'm really pissed off at the crazy work day thing, but I've gone so far into the pissed off that I can't even talk about it--and THAT is saying a lot for me. You know I love to talk. The best things that have happened in the past several weeks are that Dave and I celebrated our 10th Wedding Anniversary, my sister, Mary and her fiance, David, came up the weekend of August 5th for the NYC Half Marathon and then they got married! (well, the wedding part happened on September 1st, but it all became a blur this past month). We celebrated our anniversary as we always do with dinner at Cafe des Artistes. This year there was a twist--diamonds! My man gave me a gorgeous diamond eternity band. Wow. I gave him a smoker. Yep. A smoker See--this way, I get diamonds AND pulled pork! Genius, no? That little sister of mine sure can run. She ran that half marathon in 1:24:16, finishing 191 OVERALL (out of almost 10,000) and 30th amongst the chicks. I believe I did a stellar job of standing on the sidelines with the Daves and cheering her on. Even if was at approximately the crack dawn and I had had no coffee. We tried to do some wedding shopping while she was up here and I have to put it out here: Zitomer you let me down. I should have known something was up when I discovered you didn't carry the Roger & Gallet Doux Nature soaps anymore. Seriously, what the fuck is wrong with you? My sister found the most perfect earrings at your establishment for her wedding attire--complete with a touch of blue. We put up with your snotty sales lady (it is what we expect from these bastians of UES-ness, I'd feel weird if you were nice) and were happy with the lovely, perfection of the earrings. WELL, we're down South, packing up for the wedding and when the earrings are taken out of their little bag it is discovered that one of the stones has fallen out! Jesus Christ--is there no such thing as craftmanship anymore??? And before you suggest it, yes--I would have totally super-glued that sucker back in place, but it was nowhere to be found. It must have fallen out when she tried on the whole outfit at her last fitting. Lord only knows where that stone went. Love and happy coincidences saved the day though and her lovely David gave her a gorgeous pearl necklace as a gift the night before the wedding. It added the perfect touch to her Parisian gown and how about that--I had brought the family heirloom earrings along for the trip. They are pearls. Something old, something new, something borrowed...and I saw a blue bow sewn into the gown: My sister-in-law, Susan, took that picture. Gorgeous isn't it? Here's a link to the whole bunch of wedding photos. And one more before I go to sleep, the whole wedding party on the steps of Berry Hill (I'm the chick closest to the bride) |
